📢 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮📢 Kia Ora Whānau, We would like to keep you informed about an upcoming step in our school’s construction project. Tomorrow (after 3pm) and for most of the day on Saturday, Watts & Hughes, our head contractors, alongside licensed asbestos removal specialists, will be onsite. They will be working within the fenced-off area to safely remove identified asbestos buried in the soil bund along the school boundary. This work is being carried out under strict asbestos removal protocols that have been approved as part of the Western Bay of Plenty District and Tauranga City Council resource consent. 𝘼𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨, 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙖, 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚. While the risk to the public is very low, we want to ensure you are fully informed. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲: You may notice that not all the soil has been removed. Only specific areas of the bund have been identified to contain asbestos based on rigorous testing. The remaining soil will be retested and either reused onsite or removed as needed. We are excited to see this part of the project progress, allowing us to continue building work ahead of the Christmas period. The new building is scheduled to arrive on-site by mid-to-late January 2025.
